CLEVELAND, OH — October 3, 2026 — Qwickly is proud to announce that Qwickly Attendance has been named to Instructure's EdTech Top 40: Inside the U.S. Higher Education Digital Learning Stack. Released on September 29, 2026, the report is the first higher education edition of Instructure's EdTech Top 40 research. It identifies the 40 leading LTI tools that students and instructors launched through Canvas LMS during the 2025-26 academic year. It is the only tool on the list built specifically for attendance.
Earned Through Classroom Use
The Top 40 is based entirely on usage. Instructure analyzed de-identified Canvas LTI launch data from 19,480,990 U.S. higher education users between September 1, 2025, and April 30, 2026; the sample covers community colleges, R1 research universities, online institutions, and other colleges and universities. No marketing, advertising, or qualitative input was used to build the list. A tool appears on it because instructors and students open it.
That matters more when you look at how selective individual use is. Institutions in the study averaged 28 unique LTI tools, but individual instructors averaged only four and students averaged five. Qwickly Attendance is one of the small number of tools that instructors reach for in their courses week after week.
"The Top 40 is built from what instructors and students actually launch in Canvas, so this recognition belongs to our clients more than it belongs to us. We built Qwickly Attendance to do one job well at the start of every class meeting; seeing it on this list tells us institutions rely on it for exactly that." — Matt Hadgis, CEO, Qwickly
Part of the LMS's Administrative Layer
The report groups attendance with course evaluations, syllabus management, and library systems in its SIS and administration category, which makes up 15% of the Top 40. Instructure points to the size of this category as evidence that the LMS now serves as connective infrastructure across an institution, not only as a teaching platform. Qwickly Attendance shares that part of the list with Watermark Course Evaluations & Surveys, Simple Syllabus, Blue, Willo Labs, and Ex Libris.
Meeting the Institutional Bar
Instructure also looked at what institutions expect from the tools they formally adopt. Ninety percent of the Top 40 have a publicly available VPAT, 75% reference SOC 2 compliance, and 58% reference HECVAT compliance. Qwickly is ISO 27001:2022 certified, holds TX-RAMP Level 1 for Qwickly Attendance, and publishes HECVATs for both Qwickly Attendance and Qwickly Course Tools.
The Top 40 reflects Canvas data only. Qwickly Attendance also serves institutions on Blackboard and D2L Brightspace, whose usage falls outside the scope of this report.
